Mission to Read

Wife, technophile, bibliophile, and student who obsesses over the latest gadget and political drama. I read compulsively. It's an addiction really. I also blog.

First Grave on the Right - Darynda Jones OMG! One of the best books I have ever read! I started laughing within a couple pages of the book and didn't stop until the very last page. As soon as I started this book I started bugging my book buddies to start reading it so I could squee with them! None of them have read it and I desperately need someone to squee with! (Also it's only 3.79, so get it, read, and squee with me!)Charley Davidson is hilarious! She is tough, smart, and she is fearless. Her fearlessness constantly has everyone around her worried, but they shouldn't because that girl can take care of herself. She is the type of herione that even though she has all of these epic powers you can totally see yourself sitting around the breakfast table drinking coffee or laughing until the wee morning hours with. She is a fully fleshed out character and one that I would want to be friends with.I usually skip "steamy" scenes in books, but Reyes and Charley are simply too hot to just skip over! Also be aware that if you skip the steamy scenes it's very likely you'll miss something incredibly important to the storyline.Reyes is smart, mysterious, at times scary, and one of the sexiest heroes ever! I mean seriously sexy! We find out a lot about him as the story progresses, but more from the perceptiosn of others and I'm really looking forward to seeing more of Reyes from dialouge with Charley. There is little dialouge between the characters because as soon as he enters the room they can't keep their hands off one another.Charley's family is sorta a mess, but I have a feeling that will fix itself as the series progresses. Her father is an ex-cop and her uncle is a detective and they both have used her powers to solve cases. This means Charley is surrounded by close-minded cops that she consistently has a hilarious one liner for. Charley certainly has a mouth on her!The plot can get kinda convulted at times and can feel like too many strings we are supposed to keep track of, but if you give your undivided attention to this book it shouldn't be an issue and it is certainly easy to get lost in a world of Charley. I would suggest starting this book when you have a few free hours to get lost in this riveting book!If you love humor, sassy heriones, mysterious sexy protective bad boys, secondary characters that take on a life of their own and unusual takes on the paranormal then I'm pretty sure you will LOVE this book! Okay enough about my love of Charley! I have the next book to read! (You can also watch me squeeing about this book in the Book BFF Book Haul!)
